Biography

Fresh from mixing both MINISTRY OF SOUND and PACHA CD’s featuring his own ARIA chart smash hit ‘Tromba Ye Ye Ye’, Timmy Trumpet is currently touring Australia before he ventures back overseas to promote his new EP ‘Trrrumpet’. Aside from his multiple worldwide tours, including performances at Miami’s WMC, Ibiza’s Pacha and London’s Ministry of Sound, Timmy is the only DJ / Instrumentalist to make the ITM Top 10 DJ’s Australia wide, which has landed him residencies at clubs and festivals all over Australia including Sensation White, Summafieldayze, Future Music, Park Life, Creamfields, Good Vibrations and Stereosonic. Fashion label owner, club night promoter and a regular guest on the Stafford Brothers reality TV show on the Fox8 network, Timmy is now headlining the ‘must have’ list for DJs worldwide wanting to add a live element to their shows.

Winning ‘Young Musician of the Year’ at age 13, and touring the world playing Jazz at 14, he is no stranger to the limelight. Timmy was recognised at an early age winning a scholarship to The Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he was tutored by Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s Anthony Heinrich. Within two years the talented protégée easily secured a position as the leading solo trumpet player in the Australian All Star Stage Band. The extensive tour surged through Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Holland covering some of the world’s biggest known Jazz Festivals including Montreux and the North Sea Jazz Festivals.

Timmy’s talents in high school lay in improvisation and jamming over dance music was only a natural progression compared to the constant chord changes of Jazz and Bebop. Despite this, the cross-over into dance music came as a sheer stroke of luck when the horn blower – while working at the clothing store General Pants – was asked by a customer to bring his trumpet to one of their DJ sets. 

“I thought the idea was stupid initially, but I remember driving home from my first gig in Manly knowing this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” he says with a smile, and aren’t we glad he did!

His ability to write, produce and perform has seen the dynamite instrumentalist stray into a league all of his own; teaming sexy, melodic trumpet solos directly over deep, dirty main room house to create unforgettable dance anthem hits. Timmy Trumpet’s single ‘Horny’, a collaboration with DJ Tenzin hit # 5 on the Aria Charts for 3 weeks and is being slammed across radio networks worldwide.

After developing perfect pitch at a young age, Timmy’s progression into dance music has been characterised by his ability to effortlessly mix in key. This coupled with a live DJ / Trumpet crossover meant that before too long he was awarded – after a whopping 70,000 votes – the prestige title of Australia’s #7 DJ the 2011 ITM Music Awards and #2 in NSW.

Having conquered the Australian Dance Music Scene, Timmy set his sights on international stardom breaking the boundaries of the Australian music scene in 2006 when he landed a contract with Hed Kandi. Jumping on the first flight to the UK, Timmy was set to prove his talents stretch far beyond a DJ novelty act; touring and performing to record crowds in clubs like South Korea’s Mass, Thailand’s Full Moon Party and Ibiza’s Pacha - where he played alongside Eric Morillio.

Upon returning from Ibiza with a pocket full of contacts Timmy was determined to create a name for himself on home turf…then enter the Stafford Brothers, who heard of his talents while also touring in Ibiza.

“Meeting the Stafford Brothers was definitely a big break. They introduced me to the Australian market outside of Sydney and I’ve learnt so much from them about music production, business and life,” he says, attributing the brothers as good role models. Often being dubbed “brother from another mother” Timmy Trumpet quickly established a strong relationship with the DJ duo and became their main supporting act while touring throughout the country. In 2011, The Stafford Brothers launched their very own reality TV show on Fox8, which features Timmy throughout multiple episodes.

FAST FORWARD TO THE NOW– Fashion label owner, club night operator, producer and undoubtedly one of the most frequently booked performers in the country; Timmy Trumpet is proving he is a force to be reckoned with.
